About ESICM

The European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM) is an association of individuals with the objective of advancing and promoting knowledge in intensive care medicine through:

  • Promotion/coordination of activities in the different fields of intensive care medicine
  • Fostering research and education in these fields
  • Providing recommendations for optimizing facilities for IC medicine in Europe

  • Organization and coordination of international congresses and meetings

  • The ESICM was founded in March 1982 in Geneva, Switzerland. It is a non-profit making international association. The administrative secretariat is based in Brussels, Belgium.
